If you’re looking for a simple way to transform the exterior of your property, vinyl siding is a great option. But where do you go to find a good quality and cost-effective product?
Vinyl siding takes up a lot of room, and depending on your project, you may need large quantities too. That makes larger retailers, especially those with an online presence, good options. They’ll have the warehouse space to carry a good range.
We’ve put together this guide to where to buy vinyl siding to help you find just what you need. So without further ado, let’s take a look at the options.
Where to Buy Vinyl Siding
1. Amazon
Internet behemoth Amazon sells pretty much everything, so it’s no surprise to find they stock vinyl siding. Brands on offer include Homeside and Polaris. The range isn’t as large as you’ll find at specialist retailers. Nevertheless, there’s still a decent selection of colors and styles to choose from.
They also offer a multitude of siding accessories, including clips, S-hooks and removal tools. And if your existing siding just needs a refresh, you can find repair kits too.
The search function enables you to focus down on what you want with ease. And if you want to ensure you’re buying something environmentally sustainable, you can filter for products that are Climate Pledge Friendly.
Depending on what you choose, you could also benefit from free delivery. And Amazon’s impressive logistics infrastructure will usually get your order to you promptly.
Just check the terms of any warranty that comes with your product. In some cases, manufacturers will only honor the warranty if you’ve purchased your item from a registered seller. That may or may not include Amazon or merchants using its platform.
2. Lowe’s
With Lowe’s, you get the benefit of purchasing from specialists in home improvement. That gives you a wide range of products to choose from. When we browsed, there were well over a hundred different types of vinyl siding.
The handy search function allows you to narrow down your options according to style, color and panel length, width and thickness. You can also filter by price, brand, series and even the number of items in a pack.
All of the products have been reviewed by Lowe’s customers. The star rating is shown for each one, so you can see how others have got on with it. But unlike with Amazon, you can’t see any comments. That means you sadly won’t know the reasons behind a lower star rating.
You can, however, get help with installation if you need it. Check out the website to book an in-home consultation, entirely free of charge. And if you’re spending a lot of money, you may be interested in one of the finance options on offer.
Free delivery is available on a number of lines. If you prefer, you can reserve your order via the website, and pick it up from your local store.
3. The Home Depot
Like Lowe’s, Home Depot offer the great range you’d expect from a specialist home improvement store. Here you’ll find vinyl siding in pretty much every configuration you could need for your project. All of it is from one of two brands, Novik and Ply Gem.
The website allows you to filter your search across a range of different parameters. You can choose the length, width and thickness of each piece of siding. You can also select features such as textured, wood grain, bendable and water resistant. And of course, you can filter by price.
There’s a decent range of colors here, but they’re all pretty conventional. Choose from shades of gray, beige and brown, plus white, black and clear. For most projects, this will be fine. But if you’re looking for something more unusual, this won’t be the right retailer.
If you need to place a large order, support is on hand from Home Depot’s “Pro” team. The number is on the website, and they can provide additional information on pricing and availability.
Delivery is free of charge, and you can also collect your siding from your local store.
4. Builder’s Discount Center
If you live in Virginia or North Carolina, the Builder’s Discount Center is a great option for your vinyl siding purchase. Founded in 1986, the stores aim to provide the most competitive prices in the region.
It operates as a drive-through warehouse, and it’s popular with both professional builders and DIYers. When you arrive, an associate will meet you and guide you through the process of finding what you need. You’ll load your items into your vehicle as you go.
Everything is recorded on a sales slip, which you’ll be given when you’ve finished your shop. You then take it into the showroom, where another associate will be on hand if you need any hardware. When you’ve got everything, you simply pay as you drive out.
Vinyl siding panels are available at selected locations. But get in touch if you can’t see what you want where you live. It should be possible to place a special order and get it shipped to your local store.
There’s a choice of 14 different products in colors including white, clay, graphite grey, warm sandalwood and sunny maize. And you can choose from Dutchlap, regular or shake styles. But if you long for bolder options, you’ll be out of luck.
Alongside the siding, there’s a good range of matching accessories. These include trims, fascia covers, corner pieces and channels – everything you need to complete your project.
5. ABC Supply Co. Inc.
ABC Supply Co. Inc. are the biggest wholesaler of products including siding, roofing and guttering in the USA. There are over 800 locations across the country. Find your nearest one by visiting the website and typing in your zip code.
They stock siding from a wide range of manufacturers, including Exteria, Norandex, Foundry and Variform by Ply Gem. But note that not all products are available at every location.
The website isn’t particularly helpful. If you want to find out what brands are available where you live, the only way is to email the manager. The website provides a name and contact details.
And while you can see the brands available everywhere, you can’t see individual products either. If you already know what you want, you can call your local branch and check if they have it.
But if you want to browse, it’s not very easy. The website provides links to the manufacturers’ websites, so you can visit them one by one if you have the patience. But it’s a long way from the easy online shopping experience of some other retailers.
6. Hansons
Hansons provide their own brand of vinyl siding direct to you. It’s designed to lower your energy costs through its effective insulating properties. And it’s maintenance-free.
With this option, your siding will be installed for you. That does mean you’ll be paying for labor. But it also means you’ll have the reassurance of knowing that if something goes wrong, you have somewhere to go.
The siding is backed by a lifetime guarantee. If it succumbs to any damage, Hansons will replace it free of charge.
There’s an attractive range of colors from two palettes. The standard options include Cape Cod Gray, Coastal Sage and Vintage Wicker. The “architectural” range includes darker shades like Fired Brick, Midnight Blue and Ageless Slate.
You can request an estimate or get a free in-house consultation to discuss your project in more detail.
But before you go too far in picking your siding color, check whether they cover your area. They currently have branches in Michigan, Iowa, South Dakota, Utah, Ohio, Colorado and Nebraska only.
7. Menards
Menard’s offer a huge range of vinyl siding options in both standard and premium finishes. They carry over 20 brands, and offer pretty much any style you can imagine. So if you’re looking for plenty of choice, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better retailer.
Note, however, that not every line is available at every location. Type in your zip code to see the options on offer where you live.
You can filter your search by brand, product type, profile and color. And you can select your required dimensions too, whether by length, width or thickness. For those keen to support domestic businesses, you can also choose products made in the USA. There are almost 600 of those on offer.
And as well as vinyl siding, there’s a wide range of accent pieces and coordinating accessories.
Almost anything you want can be shipped to your local store. Some offer store pick-up, and in other cases, you can choose delivery to your home.
8. Alibaba
If you’re looking for a bargain, check out Alibaba. The online wholesaler is a gateway to products from around the world.
It’s true you might have to make extra effort to communicate with sellers for whom English isn’t their first language. And that can make things more challenging if there are any problems with your order.
But get past that, and you can get some great products at excellent prices.
Here you can find a huge range of vinyl siding, including discontinued and factory-direct lines. And if you want added reassurance, you can filter search results by verified and trade association suppliers. And you can look for products that have independent quality assurance from bodies like the ISO.
Some suppliers will require minimum orders, so filter your search according to how much vinyl siding you need.
And note that you’ll need an Alibaba account in order to use the website and contact suppliers. The good news is, it’s free to join. And once you’re in, you’ll have access to a vast range of products at very competitive prices.
9. VinylShake.com
VinylShake.com offer a lowest price guarantee on all their products, plus free shipping on all orders. Their range of vinyl sidings comes from two brands, Foundry and Tando.
With Foundry, you can choose from five different profiles – staggered shake, split shake, foundry limestone, foundry rounds and perfection shingles. They come in a range of attractive, muted colors.
If you choose Tando, VinylShake stock the stacked stone line only. And strangely, you can’t see an image of the product on the website.
But the good news is that free samples of every product are available. That will allow you to see the color in context before you make your choice. And if you want to, you can pay for a larger sample to get a better idea of how it will look.
As well as siding, there are plenty of trims, accessories and tools for sale.
One major issue to be aware of with this supplier is that every order is treated as custom-made. That means no exchanges or returns will be made. So make sure you’re 100 per cent certain of what you want before you place your order.
It’s also important that you’re there when it’s delivered, and check the contents immediately. If there are any problems afterwards, it’s likely you’ll be on your own.
10. Georgia-Pacific Vinyl Siding and Accessories
We’re cheating a bit with this one, because Georgia-Pacific are manufacturers rather than retailers. But if you visit their website, you’ll be able to find a list of dealers who stock their products. And there are lots of other useful resources to help you plan your project.
When it comes to vinyl siding, there are a multitude of different options on offer here. The Compass line, for example, is available in 29 shades. Note that some count as “premium” offerings, so you’ll need to pay extra for those.
There are also plenty of different styles – vertical siding, lap siding, shake and shingle. The website includes images of all of them, together with information on the available colors.
There’s also lots of information on everything from planning and budgeting for your project, to selecting a contractor.
And a clever online design tool lets you see how different styles and colors would look on a house. You can choose a sample building from the library, or upload a photograph of your own home.
Even if you ultimately choose another manufacturer, there are loads of great resources here to help you plan.
